How do you demonstrate cyber compliance in an ever-evolving threat landscape?
Cyber Essentials (CE) is a government scheme providing 5 key controls to better prepare your organisation against common cyber threats. CE is agnostic of business size and industry and is formatted so that non-technical individuals can assess their business. There are two tiers of this certification: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials+. The latter of these is often a requirement for working with Government organisations, and includes an in-person technical verification. Both certifications demonstrate a commitment to securing your organisation’s IT from cyber-attacks.
The five technical controls encompass Firewalls, Secure Configuration, Security update management, User access control and Malware protection. These areas are assessed across a defined scope and within that must include all devices and software capable of accepting inbound network connections from untrusted internet-connected hosts, devices that can establish user-initiated outbound connections to devices via the internet, and devices which control the flow of data between the above devices and the internet. Additionally end user devices must be included too.
